Urban Decay – NYC Farm Colony
Photos from my recent trip to the New York City Farm Colony on Staten Island, a housing project with history that dates back to the early 1800s. It was closed in 1975, and now sits in decay and acts as the local teenagers’ playground, as well as an convenient airsoft gun battlefield. I’ll most likely upload the photos in 4 parts, so stay posted for more.
Urban Decay – Dead Horse Bay
Disclaimer: There are no dead horses at dead horse bay (anymore).
I skated/walked to Dead Horse Bay from Sheepshead Bay (there are no sheepheads there either), partly because I was curious about the glasses at Dead Horse Bay, and partly because I wanted to see if I could skate 8 miles, because there are a couple of abandoned places on Staten Island that I want to go to, but are 3-7 miles away from public transportation.

And if you really like old bottles/beach treasure hunting, head on over. The quarter-mile of beach to the west of Marina Parkway bridge is filled with glasses (both broken and intact bottles), although if you’re looking for sea glass, you might be out of luck.
Cabin in the Woods
Found an abandoned shack that looked like a cross between storage space and chicken coop on my hike to Cold Springs from Breakneck Ridge.

Urban Decay – Pollepel Island
Went up to Breakneck Ridge last weekend to see if I could swim onto Pollepel Island and visit Bannerman’s Castle, but the water was too cold. Will revisit soon when it’s warmer/or with a kayak.
